Boston State of Mine was inspired by the Nas classics “New York State of Mind” and “New York State of Mind Pt.2”, where Nas talks about life in his city. Bakari J.B. pays homage to hip hop legends and to his city by painting a picture of the urban areas and tribulations of the rap game in Boston. The east-coast style beat prompted two gritty verses from the Roxbury native.
